What Can Go Wrong on a Window Cleaning Job in Georgetown, TX

Failed seals on double-pane windows

If a double-pane window looks foggy or damp between the panes, the seal has failed. That is the window, not the window cleaning — and no amount of washing fixes it, because the moisture is inside the glass unit.

What I do: photograph it before I touch it, and show you. So neither of us has to wonder afterwards.

Glass I will not put a brush on

• Exterior tint or film. Manufacturers are explicit: brushes and scrapers void the warranty. Also no window cleaning for 30 days after new film goes on.
• Leaded or stained glass. The lead is soft and often already bowed.
• Acrylic — dome skylights, patio enclosures, some storm inserts. Acrylic scratches far more easily than glass; any grit hazes it in one pass. Tap it: a dull sound is acrylic, a ring is glass.
• Bare or weathered wood, and freshly puttied sashes.
• Badly oxidised frames. Run a finger along the frame — if it comes away chalky, that oxidation runs onto the glass after I leave.

None of these mean I cannot clean your windows. They mean I clean them a different way, by hand, and I will tell you which ones on the day.

Screens — washed, not wiped, on every Georgetown job
