How I Count Your Windows for a Georgetown, TX Window Cleaning Quote
There is no industry standard for what counts as “a window,” which is why three window cleaning quotes for the same Georgetown house can differ by 48% and none of them are lying. Here is exactly how I count, so you can compare quotes properly — including mine against someone else’s.

A normal double-hung window — the kind that slides up and down — is two panes. Top sash and bottom sash. A fixed picture window is one.
On my own two-story here in Georgetown, 29 window openings came to 46 panes — 1.6 panes per opening, not 2. Any window cleaner who assumes every window is double-hung overcounts a Georgetown house like mine by about a quarter, and a quote that is 25% high is a quote you do not accept.

Call or text 512-877-7979The grid question, and why it changes your window cleaning price
Look at a window with little squares in it. Now run a finger across the glass.
If the dividers are between the panes of glass — you feel nothing, the glass is smooth — that is one pane. One pull with a squeegee. Seconds.
If you can feel the dividers on the surface, or if each little square is genuinely its own piece of glass, every square counts. A single window like that can take ten minutes.
Same window from the street. Twelve times the work, and a real difference in what window cleaning costs on that house.
This is the question that separates an accurate quote from a guess, and almost nobody asks it. If you are not sure, text me a photo of one window and I will tell you.

- Sliding glass doors
- Transoms — the glass above a front door
- Skylights — ground-reachable only
- Storm windows — these come apart and go back together. Other window cleaning companies charge $85 per unit for this. I will tell you before I start.

Hard water etching. If the lower windows near a sprinkler head look cloudy in a way that does not wipe off, that is mineral bonded into the glass. It is restoration, not window cleaning, and it is a different job with a different price. It is the single thing that turns a two-hour job into a five-hour one, which is why I ask about it on the phone instead of discovering it on your driveway.
New construction or recent paint work. Paint specks, adhesive and mortar need a blade, and blade work on new tempered glass carries the highest scratch risk in this trade. Quoted separately, always.
Everything else — screens, tracks, sills — is in the price. See window cleaning prices for Georgetown, TX.
One call, one number, and the two things that could move it.
Call or text 512-877-7979Four questions to ask any window cleaner in Georgetown, TX
Including me.
- What do you rinse with? If the final rinse is tap water, the spots come back on the first dry day.
- How do you reach the high glass? A ladder leaned on a gutter is faster and cheaper than a pole. It is also how gutters get bent and how somebody gets hurt on your property.
- Do you carry commercial insurance, and can I see the certificate?
- Is hard water restoration included or extra? If nobody has mentioned it and your lower panes are cloudy, it is extra — and you will find out on the day.
Any window cleaner who gives you a number without knowing the property is guessing. Anyone who cannot explain the number is hoping you will not ask.
